Professional Development/Culture Lab

Museo de las Americas offers a yearly “Culture Lab” to help teachers develop their professional skills.

Through four interactive professional development modules, educators will discover the importance of cultural competencies while earning recertification credits towards their Colorado teaching license. Modules will be shaped by panel discussions, online discussion forums, required readings and module assignments. Teachers will have the chance to network with other enthusiastic educators and improve classroom instruction.

As the diversity in our classrooms increase, so does the need for culturally competent practitioners. Collectively, these modules will equip teachers with the tools needed to better serve in a multicultural context. While building cultural competencies, teachers will learn how to use arts integration in core content areas and culturally responsive  pedagogy to enhance student achievement.

Full scholarships are available for educators in Denver, Jefferson, Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, and Douglas counties through SCFD funds.

Testimonials from teachers at Magon Academy:

I came expecting to learn, change & grow, I left with growth, curiosity, wondering, life & breath. I truly enjoyed planning our arts integrated lesson with my grade level team. The synergy created in this space was transformational!

I came not really sure what to expect, I left with so much! Comfort and uncomfort, I think that it was beautiful because it challenged mind, body and soul. I loved it!

This was the best PD ever!
