As part of the 2017 Biennial of the Americas programming, Leonel Alvarado will be reading in Spanish from his original poetry, and signing copies of his latest book Retratos mal hablados. Originally from Honduras, award-winning poet Leonel Alvarado lived in the US before moving to New Zealand, where he heads the Spanish Program at Massey University and teaches Latin American literature, music, and travel writing. He is the author of 10 books of poetry, fiction, and criticism, some of which have received prestigious awards in Latin America and the US.
