Claudia Moran-Pichardo Assuming New Role after 10 Years of Service to Museo

Museo de las Americas is proud to announce that upon completion of her Masters Degree in Museum Administration and after 10 years working for Museo, Claudia Moran-Pichardo, former Director of Operations, has been promoted to Deputy Director effective January 1st.

A Dedicated Denver Latina Professional

Claudia Moran-Pichardo is a uniquely versatile Museum Professional in Denver and Museo de las Americas is lucky to have had her on staff for over 10 years. She holds a BA from the National School of Anthropology and History in Mexico City, Mexico and is currently working towards a Master’s degree in Museum Administration from CU-Boulder. Her master thesis project is focused on developing a model that will help Latin Museums in the United States to achieve financial stability.

She started her career as an educator teaching Anthropology and History in Guadalajara Mexico. In 2002, Claudia moved to Denver and became involved with the Latino community and found a great opportunity at the Museo de las Americas.

Moran received a fellowship from the Circle of Latina Leadership in 2009. The circle included seventeen young women who shared a common mission for Denver Latinos. Their training included leadership development, mentoring, and completing a Community Action Project. She is part of a new generation of Art Administrators whose focus is to safeguard the mission of Art institutions by concentrating on the operations and their financial well-being.

“Since I moved to the United States, I’ve always been interested in how the Latino community relates, communicates and shares.”

She has been nominated for Denver Business Journal’s 40 under 40 and in 2014, Moran-Pichardo was featured in a Denver Business Journal highlight for her accomplishments at Museo. In addition to her museum professional responsibilities, Claudia is the co-founder of Tequila Proximus; an ultra-premium artisanal Tequila. This business venture has allowed her to promote one of the most symbolic products of Mexico while supporting independent agave farmers and small producers in Jalisco. This unique fusion of nonprofit and business expertise is what makes Claudia a vital asset to Museo. This set of diverse skills and perspective is the reason Claudia has been promoted to Deputy Director.

Serving Museo for 10 years

Claudia has been a dedicated museum professional at Museo de las Americas for over 10 years. In 2011, she was promoted to Director of Operations allowing her to participate in broader art administrative areas opening new opportunities to her professional career. Convinced that she was an advocate for Latino artists and communities of color, she enrolled at CU Boulder to pursue a graduate degree in Museum Administration. This unrelenting investment in her education and experience put her on the inevitable trajectory to continue to take on more responsibility at Museo. Given her unmatched tenure at Museo, she is an important asset to ensure the thriving future of this integral Denver institution. This new role combines multicultural leadership and financial expertise with her personal passion of promoting Latino culture through museum art exhibitions and educational programs.

As Museo’s Deputy Director, Claudia will gain a deeper understanding of the role Museo plays in the community and she will undoubtedly bring a wealth of experience to Museo’s mission. Claudia will be in charge of expanding the fundraising strategies and attracting new benefactors with a focus on the next generation of philanthropists. She will apply her experience, education, and business expertise to the new role in order to achieve these goals.
