When you think of Costa Rica, do you think of the country’s biodiversity and anti-militaristic culture? What you may not know is that beneath the surface, contrasting realities intertwine. Beyond its idyllic image, Costa Rica represents a fresh societal landscape, giving rise to new social groups that voice their opinions and question prevailing national political choices. Feminist and other activist movements seek justice for social inequality. With this art and culture exhibition, the country’s rich cultural heritage comes to life as a seamless blend of ancient artifacts and contemporary art illuminates both the country’s intriguing past and vibrant present.
Curated by Costa Ricans Mauricio Cruz and Maria Paula Morera Nuñez, the exhibition features six international artists and two artist collectives: Annabella Prins, Emma Segura, Genesis Lopez, Edwin Godinez & The Myno, Terrasha Morgan & Leimy de la Rosa, Alonsx Campos, Federico Herrero and Mauricio Cruz.
