Hilos/Threads

Location: Lakewood Public Library

May 2 - June 29, 2022

In Latin America, textiles have been used to reflect individual identity and social status, as well as the ancestral beliefs held by various communities since the 2nd millennium BCE. Although some textile traditions have been forgotten or changed through colonization, many of the techniques have been in continuous use, and the textiles continue to perform a utilitarian and ceremonial function. Through unparalleled artistry, the peoples of Latin America have woven their story into their garments using material, color and motif.
On display at Lakewood Public Library, 10200 W 20th Ave. Lakewood, CO, 80215.
