Anthony Quinn: What am I? ¿Qué soy? presents a selection of self-portraits and related works by artist and actor Anthony Quinn (1915-2001). While Quinn is primarily known for the film characters he portrayed, this exhibition takes an interest in his personal life story as one akin to the myriad of multicultural identities and experiences being lived today. As the first Mexican-American to win an Academy Award, he forged many paths and inspired a lifetime of fans, especially those who saw themselves in him. Now, viewers can become acquainted with Quinn as an artist in dialogue with aspects of his own identity who, through artwork spanning seven decades, will continue to accompany generations young and old in their own journeys towards self-reflection and acceptance.
This exhibition is organized by guest curator Yolanda Fauvet in collaboration with the Anthony Quinn Estate and President of the Anthony Quinn Foundation, Katherine Quinn.
