¡Salud y Justicia! is a pop-up art exhibit curated by Carina Bañuelos-Harrison that raises mental health awareness and aims to destigmatize what it means within the Latinx Community. Recognizing and prioritizing mental health has been a challenge. Since the pandemic, the mental health crisis has increased at record rates, especially in Brown and Black communities.
The pop-up art exhibit’s goal is to spark an open and multidimensional conversation about mental illness to normalize our struggles and transform them through healthy outlets and modalities while bringing to light that our community deserves equitable access to mental health.
¡Salud y Justicia! mental health awareness art exhibit is a collaborative effort with the March 2022 Amplify: Latinx Community Now Artists, the intergenerational ViVe Wellness Community and the vibrant and forward- thinking Lxs Jovenes Leadership Lab. Featured artists are Cal Duran, Alexander Hernandez, Sammiotzi, Frank Lucero, Adrian Raya, Cherish Marquez, Ivonne Vera, Sean Trujillo, Juls Mendoza, Javier Flores, Josiah Lopez and Lizeth Hernandez.
¡Salud y Justicia! will be on view from August 5th to September 24th, 2022 at Museo.
