ART OF CULTURA: RETABLO FOLK ART PAINTING WORKSHOP IN DENVER BY SEAN TRUJILLO

For Members, For The Public

A retablo is a centuries old Spanish colonial traditional folk art form consisting of devotional images most common in the Southwest region of the United States in Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado. Sean Trujillo, a practitioner of this art form and one of the featured artists in our current exhibit “Espiritu Hermosx/Beautiful Spirit”, will be teaching this workshop. This workshop will be a hands-on painting class in which we will learn about the process of making natural pigments made from sediments harvested from Colorado and New Mexico and paint a real hand carved traditional mini retablo. The class will also feature a tour of Museo’s “La Mission” semi-permanent exhibit for historical context.

Please join us for this one-of-a-kind Retablo folk art painting workshop experience in Denver. Space is limited.

$15 for Museo members, $20 for non-members.
