An Argentinian Heart: Gauchos in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West

Join us for a reception and intriguing discussion of a group of Argentinian gauchos who performed regularly with Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Ms. Conley will discuss the life and times of the Argentinian gauchos, their stories, how and why they came to the United States, and their performances with the Buffalo Bill Wild West. Her talk will be illustrated with contemporary letters, posters and images relating to the gauchos and the show. There will be a special viewing of artifacts from the Buffalo Bill Museum and guest appearances by William “Buffalo Bill” Cody and Annie Oakley.
